The mirror is one of the amazing things discovered on the earth. It truly and completely reflects the object placed in front of it. People often use it to make up themselves good looking of to see the places where our head cannot be moved to see. It sometimes also reflects the mind of man standing before it.
Standing infront of the mirror and gazing ourself will make the mirror read what is in our mind. It tells what it sees only to us and protects our privacy. It takes some time to know what it means by – looking at yourself. It is not thinking about what our life is or where our career is progressing. It is looking at the appearance. The clothing, the face cut, the posture we make in front of it. It also means about looking at what our mind is thinking at that moment.
Some people feel hesitant to see their own face in the mirror. They feel that it is so weird that it shows the negative aspects of their appearance. The mirror is very straight forward, it shows the things as it is, without caring our feelings. It doesnt know to talk, it doesnt know to give respect. To say the truth, it is not even worth looking at it. If this is what you think, just pause your repulsive thoughts for a moment. Go and stand infront of mirror and see what it tells. Atleast remember the moments when you were in front of it. Take a place of third person and see what happens.
Mirror is one of the dear friends of humans. It is the real person who shows us what it sees exactly with our eyes silently. It helps us transform ourself into a good looking entity. It tells us what is wrong in us and how we can correct ourself. Not just the appearance, but the behaviour too.
When we are in a sad mood, it cherishes us with the joys we had in the past. When our eyes are crying, it becomes a dear one and makes our hands touch the eyes. When we are in a pain which cannot be told, it silently nurtures us. Apart from all, mirror does one unique thing. It makes you feel different than what you are. This has to be realized on the own, and cannot be put in words. Finally, try to mirror yourself once.
Everyone is always right

If you are given a chance to listen to the arguments of the conflicting parties, I am sure it will be hard to decide which one is right and which one is wrong. When the arguments are seen in a seperate scope, it appears perfectly right.
Every one is always right. It is just the other person who takes it in the wrong way. After listening to the arguments on the both sides, this is what every one feels who sits in the seat of judgement.
Welcome the world of conflicts. Here no two persons think alike.
The same is true when someone says bad about you with some set of reasons and you have another set of valid reasons to hate them. When spilling out those reasons, the opposing parties understand where the conflict started. After the argument they wish to mix up again, but ego stops them.
An always fighting couple do have their individual reasons. Valid reasons. The third person recognizes that the reason bothering them is a very silly thing. Either of the partners are so desparate to tell out their own views and want their voice and word to be the final one.
The world has conflicts all around and still remains in the state of conflict. Starting from the big VIPs , successful persons, politicians, leaders till the small kid who get a slap from the mother, every one considers their view as perfect one.
PHP frameworks are very hard for me
Posted on July 04, 10 @ 07:35 am under Mind Views and has no comments.
I am not telling any one to stop using PHP frameworks. Using a framework actually adds lot of (usefull and useless) code, which is hard to remember for novice coders like me. People say it is good practice to use a framework and we can manage the code easily. But I face difficulty in using them.
I am one of those novice programmers placing the php code above the html of each page. I use conditional redirects to specific php pages. I use a library called Jasmine, which takes care of database connections and has commonly used functions across the applications. I pass values from URLs, ofcourse I do proper validation before accepting the values into the scripts.
I started observing that the code I was writing was perfectly alright, and the application is made secure by validating and other stuff. But the URLs seem ugly. As a programmer it is ok for me, but in the SEO point of view, it was ugly. because URL parameters were getting neglected. So I thought to use some URL rewriting techniques. Very soon I found that using a framework would be good.
I made my quest of which framework to use. Started with cakephp. It looked ok, but logically understanding the flow was difficult. Then switched to Kohana. It looked very much comfortable. I even rewrote my jasmine code as library for Kohana v2. One major drawback I observed is controllers within folders cannot exceed depth of 2, i.e I could not call the controller written in the second sub folder from URL. This made me go back to the market of frameworks. Came across Kohana v3, but it was appeared strange to me. Documentation was very poor to understand. I finally settled with Codeigniter. Excellent documentation and ease of coding. Bingo, I hit the bulls eye.
I confirmed myself to use codeigniter in one of my currently running projects. Logically, every thing is fantastic. Templating, seperation of controllers, models and views. Even the nested controller problem got disappeared. I was happy and felt my self royal by using a framework. I thought to write Codeigniter as my competancy in my resume.
Now starts the problem. I was going on adding features to the projects, and the file count increased. Even though I named the files briefly, it was hard to remember which file has which functionality. Sometimes I had to call the same model in multiple controllers and had to rewrite so mych of same code again and again. Then I thought to make the application compact and effective. So I merged some controllers and placed logically related code as functions. So it was easy to call just few files.
Most of the pages in my application were using a template. A place holder only got the data to be displayed. I had to write so many functions in models, so many functions in controller and so many views called from within the template.
This time, the problem is only with me. I have to go through so many lines of code to find the code to change. Even though it is possible to search by looking at URL. I really get scared by looking such a huge code. Plus, the index.php file in the root gets triggered on every request. This inturn invokes huge number of php scripts. Obviously occupying memory. I was surprised when I saw ~1MB memory usage for a page of just 2KB.
Sometimes I feel like.. hey.. i could have implemented this feature in a much simpler way.. why am i writing so much of code for this. Then i answer myself.. dude.. even if u write in a simpler way, framework will only understand the complex way. I cannot even call the individual script directly, because the framework has taken the complete control of the project. I feel disgusted. I have to manage the titles, meta data and other stuff again and again for every controller. I feel the work as very tedious.
In my 5 years of PHP code development, I developed a habit of writing PHP scripts the traditional way, i.e the script of the top of html. I feel comfortable with it, because I can implement the required functionality very fast. Handling scripts was very easy. Framework makes me write so much of code, so much of memory eating while executing.
Finally I have decided, not to use any frameworks in my future projects. For those ugly urls, i will use htaccess url rewrite techniques.
Life is common yaar

(fyi: opinion is mine, and might differ in others lives)
When we are kids we get the love from everyone. overwhelming. we feel complete. we dont feel taking anymore.
When we are in teenage, we try to lead life bindas. we are confident of acheiving anything. we just say no to everyone who proposes us and we think we are not in love. we think something good is waiting for us. we dont realise the value.
When we start career, we think we will have cute friend. who talks to us and makes us feel relaxed. we are in love because we want to be, not really.
After marriage, some days will be good. synchronization in thoughts and in love life, everything. slowly things start appearing strange. moods will change to fight. we demand our respects from each other.
Years passby and feel that we dont get love from each other. we have it, but cannot recognise it. we remember only the fights and differences but dont remember the happiness. because we have developed such a habit. we think marriage is not suitable for us. we dont trust each other. we think its good to be separate.
Everyone else looks happy except us. we see that everyone is in love, except us.
At that time, some one makes us feel relaxed. some one makes us laugh. we question ourself. am i in love with that person. am i doing right. then our partner looks disgusting. the other person becomes so special. we dont think wrong in taking another affectionate step.
One day, we realise what the real love is. we remember the happiness which over partner gave. we think to go back to our partner, but we cannot. we can, but we think we cannot. we think if we go back our partner will reject us. we dont realise that, after the rejection, thinking is going to make up the acceptance. we forget that it takes time. sometimes a little longer.
We leave the path of the relations to the time and we lead our lives. we learn to feel the smallest happiness of our life. we feel to care about our children. we give love to them. we make up their lives. we feel worried when we are rejected by them. we leave our children, we leave our relatives.
And finally on one great day, we leave our life. Another life.
in simple words. we start our life playing games, then we want to have someone for us, then we start searching for love. then we start fighting for our respect. then we start understanding the life, we start compromising. then we understand what love is, then we start feeling the love, then.. life is finished.
It is common yaar. it happens in everylife.
Is open source a reason for global crisis?
Posted on December 21, 08 @ 11:25 am under Mind Views and has no comments.
This is a strange thought that I have pulled out of my mind. I was thinking whether this would be a reason for global crisis. Let me start my story from those initial years of software development.
At the time computers arrived, knowing those strange boxes was an added benefit for the employee. As the need for "computing" was increased, there was a requirement for people, who could operate it. Slowly the requirement turned towards those who can develop it. Then the requirement turned into a demand. Companies started paying more salaries to those who used their brains. Companies started "selling" their softwares to other companies. They named themselves as Software vendors. Seeing the increased demand of those intellectual properties, the prices of softwares were increased slowly.
Before I begin the next para, let me remind you the fact that companies can do anything (to extremes) to make out more money from their products with less and logical investments. This thought of business men made the software vendors retain the source code of the program and made them give the machine level code to its customers. These copies were bundled with something called "license". This "license" imposed a couple of restrictions on the installations of softwares, and made the customer buy the same software copies multiple times to get the required "licenses". The "license" also restricted the customer to change or manipulate the working condition of the code.
There was a boom in market and the software industry became the richest among others. It made other companies buy its products as a mandatory need. But the market had a majority of medium and low budget companies. Buying something which is more expensive than their infrastucture was a big trouble to them. Inside the blanket, the techie guys understood the working of the software and started using the copies without paying for it. This was what they called the "piracy". Software vendors got a "jerk" with this, and were not willing to accept it. As a result, the "pirate" companies were sued legally.
Mean while, a curious developer wrote a piece of code and gave the source code to others to see it. Others "liked it" and added their thoughts to it. Their innovative ideas took shape in the hands of programmers and couple of software codes started speading here and there, without any charge. Software developers started using it in their applications. Sometime later the "customer" came to know about this and hired some programmers to develop softwares based on those free ones. The developers, of course, were paid less, because much of the source code was "openly" distributed.
The focus shifted from proprietary software solutions to cheaply available and configurable "open source" softwares. This gave a chance to many companies which emerged as software vendors. To withstand in the battle field of competitions, the companies increased the work force who developed quality softwares. The customer was not happy with the price because they remained the same. A thirst for something cheap and productive started. This gave a competition among software developers and vendors, who started charging less than others. The companies started buying the cheapest available in the market. Their main focus was to get the work done with minimal investment.
The same thought came in the mind of others and the usage of pricy softwares started declining. This reduced the profits for the software vendors and increased the competition. The demand for open source softwares raised in market. To overcome this vendors started training their staff on opensource. The developers took the knowledge and moved to another company, making the investment useless. Then the expenditure for companies started increasing, and the main one was on the man power. This made the companies stop recruiting people and to address the income-expense ratio, slowly started removing its employees.
With the increasing unemployement and lack of job security, the willingness of a human to buy things decreased. The human started reducing his expenditure and stopped buying things unless they are required. This inturn had the impact on companies whose income-expense ratio got affected. Like a chain reaction in all the molecules, all the companies followed the same method. Investment in creating and buying something was stopped. All of a sudden the companies recognised that they were in loss. The loss was also visible in the companies world wide.
I am not saying that open source is the only reason for the loss. But this being one of the reason, followed many others. Especially the income-expense balance. Now you might expect me to put forward a solution for this. But there are many business management administrators out there who have sharper minds than me. They will definetly come forward with some idea to put back the wheel into the cart. Anyway, not to disappoint you, here is my view.
The companies can come forward and invest larger amounts on other products, not on just the softwares. We have a so many other alternatives to software industries which really need attention. The major being the infrastucture innovations. The products that will ease the lifestyle. The infrastructure that would bring fame to the country. Tourism, internal security, improvement in quality of products produced and most importantly the stonger association of government and private companies in improving the quality of "things" produced is needed.
A morning at a hospital
Posted on December 14, 08 @ 07:53 pm under Mind Views and has no comments.
Mornings can be beautiful everywhere. But in a place like a hospital, the morning is different. A morning which can be seen along with many others.
By stepping outside the room and walking through the grass of sun rays, falling diagonally from the windows on to the paths of corridor, leaves a pleasant feeling. Some people, having their night spent in the corridors, wake up and start packing their blankets and pillows. Some people sit in the chairs and start sleeping with their mouths open. Some people remember their memories by standing in the balcony and staring at the roadside tree.
Nurses taking saline bottles and injections and walking into the rooms of patients. And some good looking nurses walk with a thermometer and BP apparatus. Housekeeping and cleaning staff go through every room. They clean everything (and everyone) in their way. After a while, duty doctor steps in and writes down some thesis in the case sheet, with a finger scratching the head.
Once stepped out of the building, warm sun rays wish a very happy morning. Cool breeze touching the cheeks and the eyes recognizing the early morning colors of the nature. A man stands in the sun and takes a sip of cigar, though he has the shadow of trees right beside him. Though less in number, many people can be seen moving here and there.
The canteen slowly becomes crowdy. All the attendants occupying the seats with a glass of coffee or tea. An old man sits quietly looking at others and a middle aged man opens his news paper and starts reading news. He doesn't want to miss even the smallest news in the corner of the page. And kids still sleeping on their mothers shoulders. All these leading way to a big queue at the counter. Most commonly purchased tiffins are Idly, Wada, Puri, Upma with a same priority as Dosa.
The medical shops are opened one by one and the owner does pooja in a corners and shows aarthi to all his staff members, who look very busy in attending customers. The business doesn't start early in the morning. Only one or two customers taking very less medicines.
Security staff assemble at the main gate and does the normal "standartise-attention". Then a huge guy (In-charge) steps in and takes attendance of all, in his big bounded book. The night shift security guards handover the duties to day shift guards. All guards go to their places and start their work of "securing".
Everything gets ready to experience and enjoy the new day.
Birthdays should not be celebrated!!
Posted on August 04, 08 @ 02:49 am under Mind Views and has no comments.
Did someone say that..? Shall I know the reason? May be they are not keen on the reason why a birthday should be celebrated.
Birthday is the only day in the whole year, that is completely dedicated for ourself. We will be the main attraction of the day. We are given freedom to do things we like on this day. Greetings from the people we know come to us with a special feel.
Everyone has their own ways of celebrating it. Some people go out on a holiday. Some other goes to an amusement parks. Picnics. Travel. Pubs. Discos. etc. etc. Some broadminded people spend their day in orphan and oldage homes. Everyone tries to satisfy this special day by doing different things.
Another thing to note is the tradition of giving gifts. Gifts are the symbols of love and affection our friends, relatives and beloved ones have on us. It should not be seen whether they are giving a costlier one or a good looking one. Their thought and act of giving a gift must be appreciable. In the world where time is precious, some one has dedicated sometime in thinking about us and thought to get something for our happiness. While receiving the gift, a smile on our face will make them satisfied and happier even more.
Finally, it is not the waste of money for those who celebrate grand parties. It becomes food for many people. The bakery guys who gives cakes, candles and other food items, the shopkeepers who sells decorative items, maids who get more pay for their work. All these people make their lives happier with the money they are paid.
Above all, it is the pleasure of having many people around us. I don't think someone wants to celebrate it all alone. Even though we don't want to celebrate it, it is the magic of the day that brings happiness automatically.
A known attraction
Posted on July 02, 08 @ 08:09 am under Mind Views and has no comments.
Look at the earth and the sun. The earth gets attracted to the brightness of the sun and travels towards it. It turns around itself and feels the brightness on every side of it. As it gets near, the heat increases and earth is its loosing valuable things. Seeing this, the sun decreases the attraction decreases and increases the repulsive force. But the earth doesn't fly away because sun is showing the repulsive force. It expresses that sun is important in its life, even if it hates it, by taking a circle around it starts moving away.
When it moves away, the memories shower from the clouds, and earth enjoys it. Even when earth moves away, the sun doesn't stop giving the light to earth. It cares about earth and doesn't want to leave it in the dark. As the time slips, the weather gets cooler and earth starts shivering. To give it warmth, the sun decreases the repulsion and attraction builds up again. And the earth travels towards the sun again.
If the earth thinks that it anyway is going to get repelled, it cannot enjoy the attraction that is going on currently. If the earth thinks that sun is not moving even a bit, it cannot enlighten itself. The sun knows that it should not move, because the earth cannot tolerate the heat. Even other planets have the importance of sun in their own life and a movement of single centimeter will unstabilise the solar system.
Earth is the female, which is necessary for mankind. The affection and nurture it gives is important for the survival of life. Sun, the male, enriches the knowledge of mankind by putting light on things. Both of them are necessary.
Can we think too much?
Posted on June 15, 08 @ 09:25 am under Mind Views and has no comments.
Sometimes, when we are deeply immersed into a subject or act or conversation on single topic, we tend to stop thinking about it by saying that it is "too much" or "over". We think that "too much" is a huge and vast thing and the flight of mind just goes without an aim. Plus, we don't want to think deeply, because somebody has said that our mind might become unstable by thinking too much, and we believe in them.
We might also have previously thought about something deeply and were frightened by the negative overcome of it. Such as getting into a stage where emotional balance gets disturbed. A stage where we could not control the thinking of our mind. Our acts and talks might be opposed by others. But isn't there a chance of positive outcome when we think deeply? Can't we bring out positive results by thinking or behaving "too much"?
One of the main reasons, for avoiding "too much", might be loosing interest in the topic due to lack of knowledge and words to speak off, when we think too much of it. Because the thoughts, which are already thought of, will get repeated again and again. As humans, we don't want to do the same thing again and again. Correct? Instead, if we could bring in the extra stuff into the grinder of thinking, such as third point of views, analysis of any result of the situations thought of, and many more things that our mind can think of, wouldn't that be useful? May be our creativity and thinking capacity gets improved. We could also control our mind to keep the interest continuously, thus helping ourselves in improving the patience and observation skills.
On the other hand, I can see a small disadvantage of it. We feel that the opposite person might think of us badly. There is one principle - No two persons think alike. S/He might not have thought of as deeply as we did. So s/he is afraid of our view range and starts de-motivating us. But if we could start discarding this feeling, wouldn't that be helpful?
How it would be if we try to see how big this "too much" is? Can we practice the art of thinking "too much"? May be continuous practice might put our mind to think in a proper way with a broader range.
Let me give you an example. We fly kites every year. We wish to raise our kite to the heights. We release the thread and when kite seems to fall, we just hold the thread or pull it back and the kite automatically raises up. The only time when we withdraw the kite is either we get bored or we loose confidence on the strength of thread. So it needs a strong thread which doesn't get cut when the kite flies higher and higher. You might say - the distant kite will not be visible. Let me say you, that if it cannot be seen, it doesnt mean that it isn't there. Plus, our distance of vision is limited, but many elements do exist outside this distance.
If you have got my point, I need not explain how my example relates to the concept.
On the first rainy day ...
Posted on May 21, 08 @ 10:12 am under Mind Views and has no comments.
The soil shares the joy of rain by spilling out an impressive fragrance. Cotton clouds begin to gather in the sky. Sun rests back behind a darkest cloud. Cool breeze from the hills comes down to the ground and touches the flowers and leaves gently. The tallest trees dance in the wave of the air showing their happiness.
Up in the sky, cool breezes touch the clouds. Those water ballons try to share this affection by touching the earth and the first rain drop falls. The ground absorbs this treasure and tries to fill its heart . The treasure chest fills up and the excess love goes to the lakes and ponds.
Leaves get drained and flowers get tickled by the rain drops. Dry leaves fall on the ground and begin their journey towards an unknown destination. Hills and mountains close their eyes and enjoy the water falling on them.
After a long time all the houses, buildings, shops and hotels get an "outside" bath. The posters and hoardings on the road side get wet and new colors show up. Traffic gets jammed hiding the true color of the road. Vehicles start romancing with each other and their owners start fighting.
People enjoy the first rain eating a chilled ice cream or drinking a hot tea near the road side stalls. A school going kid helps his fellows by giving a share under his big umbrella. Big kids run for the shelters with their hankies and books covering their faces.
Busy people start to their work place and get questioned by the rain. Still their bikes try to rule the road. The dress gets wet and they stand under the trees and bridges, sometimes even under a plastic cover cornered by others. They start enjoying this little free time by having a cigar kissing their lips and memories rewinded in their minds.
Many of the software engineers become mechanical engineers, trying to repair their vehicles which got stuck in the middle of the road. It appears as if the whole world is pushed aside by the nature to perform a fantastic movie.
After the movie is finished, the atmosphere is so clear, as if a couple has understood each other more clearly than before. And there is no place for any more misunderstandings. Distant objects seem more clearer than before. Distance of vision increases and there is more place for eyes to see things.
The trees look more greener and the flowers are more colorful. Rivers and lakes become more younger when filled with water. Fresh air filling the lungs of humans makes their day refreshing.
In such a memorable moment, having the beloved one close to the heart increases the pleasure of life.
